Research has shown that “women in music” panel talks and workshops are inaccessible to many members of the music community. There is no online alternative that offers similar content, leaving many women and non-binary folks to learn how to navigate the industry on a trial-and-error basis.
Sam Dharmasena (Roshanie) launched Solidarity In Sound (SIS) as an education platform for the music community. Focused on equipping women & non-binary folks with the tools and resources to advance their careers in the music industry, we supported the community through events, workshops, and various initiatives.
For The Record Event
In honour of International Women’s Day, we invited creative minds to join in a day-long event centered on offering methods to improve artist discovery for women in the music industry. After the ideation session, pitches were judged by industry leaders, Tao-Ming Lau, LU KALA, and Dalton Higgins.
