The University of Guelph's Black History Month programming had long run on the separate efforts of individual campus groups; the university wanted a single cornerstone event to unite the wider campus and the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge-Guelph community. I developed and pitched the proposal to bring Angela Davis to campus, secured supporting partnerships with McMaster and Wilfrid Laurier, and led the event end-to-end, including publicity, venue and talent logistics, and the staff and volunteer team on the day. Launched as a 500-seat ticketed event, it sold out, expanded to 1,000 seats and sold out again, then grew to over 2,000 attendees, plus a livestream audience.
